We sit and watch
The moon devour
This black edged, blue eyed world:
O silent wonder
O dreaming mensch!
Space and time
Consort with memory
To fix upon these shores
A rampant swirl
Dredged of precious moments
Streaked against the vast normalcy
Of always hurtling onwards:
Existence the ribbon thread
That loops ensilvered stars to human wonders
Imagined and desired.
O ‘nature immense’
O dark sheathed angst
That cracks and melds
The brittle stress
Upon our wandering daze
Once shapeless
Then glimpsed within the flickering light
Of bonnie altered ways:
Here happiness and awe
Settle swiftly in demise.
All is decay
All is desire
All is beauty:
We sit and watch the moon devour
