Awkward scales surround the television
Someone struggles with the keys
Bearing down upon each note
With brash and wholesome fury.
Wiry hands cocked
The saboteur reads his Latin
Devises codes and imagines patterns:
Sedition and a polonaise
Defying dull suburban ways.
The pedals creak and issue warning.
The music brays aloud
That half a million pianos
Re-creation and revolt
Should lurk in unsuspecting households.
