The English got it right
With 'the' digraph of possession:
No rococo complexity
No ‘die’, ‘den’ ‘das’
But absolute control.
How strange then
That the voiced dental fricative
Should now be so deeply cuckolded
By the flood of baby talk English
That marks our airwaves.
Language losing its grips
So to speak
Regressing
As the lost world of tongue on teeth
Melds on the dying fall of its simple power.
Enough!
“Dah man says nah!”
